Reflective Summary

Before reading the article I did not know that shark are going extinct as I always heard from family and friends that sharks are killing people and still have lots of different species of shark living on the earth. After reading the article I learn that sharks had became the most valuble and vulnerable animals in the sea.Sharks are also being consumed faster than they can reproduce.Shark is going extinct because of humans who wants to eat it.

My perspectives change after reading the articles as I always thought sharks were animals that eats humans without thinking but after reading I realise that they are going to be extinct by 2017 and we can never see them again.More research tells me that they eat humans rarely per year.My thoughts about the current situation is that people thinks that there are still lots of shark around the world and continue eating their fins and buy other shark related products but it is anticipated that 20species of shark could be extinct by 2017.

We can all help by stop eating sharks and encourage people to stop consuming sharks. We can also encourage restaurants to remove sharks from menus and also remove sharks from fish counters which allow the retail industry to ease the pressure on vulnerable species.

My suggestion for further improvement is that people stop killing sharks and let them live in their own ocean peacefully.Although shark fins are delicious but if we continue eating them and they will go extinct and everyone will be regretful

Reflective Journal 3 -Shark Conservation Act of 2009

http://marinelife.about.com/od/conservation/p/sharkconservationact.htm

Summary of the article
The Shark Conservation Act of 2009 seeks to eliminate the practice of shark finning in the U.S. Sharks can still be fished, but sharks can only be aboard a fishing vessel whole and with the fin naturally attached. This will decrease incentive for shark finning, which usually involves discarding the shark's less-valuable body at sea and causing waste of about 95% of the shark.

The Act will also support conservation of sharks worldwide by encouraging other countries to develop shark conservation programs and reduce shark finning.

Reflection
Before reading this article I have no idea of what is the Shark Conservation Act of 2009 but after reading the article I learn that the act is preventing sharks from going extinct.Sharks are also hunted for their fins in a practice call shark finning.Shark Conservation Act of 2009 was introduced to aid in conservation and demonstrate the importance of sharks to the U.S.We can help by supporting their act and finding more people to support this to prevent sharks from going extinct.

Reflective Journal 2-Shark conservation

http://www.bite-back.com/sharks.htm

Summary of the article
Sharks have taken on trophy-like qualities for the people that hunt and eat them. This lust for money and a taste for the exotic has landed sharks in deep trouble.Currently sharks are among the most valuble and vulnerable animals in the sea.Lots of customers demand for shark fins and other shark related products.More than 123 countries around the world now trade in shark products.By 2017 it is anticipated that 20species of shark could become extinct.

Reflection
After reading the article I learned that shark are now the most valuable and most vulnerable animals in the sea.Sharks are going extinct because of massive customers who demand for shark fins and other shark related products. It has also shocked me that 125 countres around the world now trade in shark products contributing to an uncontrollable surge in the number of shark taken from the oceans. It is also shocking that by 2017 20species of shark could be extinct due to we humans hunting them and indiscriminate fishing techniques. Before reading the article I did not know what we humans did caused to the sharks but after reading this article I learned that sharks going to be extinct by 2017 but we can prevent this to happen just by encouraging consumers to stop buying shark meats.Everyone can stop this by stop eating shark fins and change our habit.

http://www.bite-back.com/shark_conservation.htm

Summary of the article

Shark Meat being popularised by chefs, trendy restaurants and even supermarkets and more.Over-fishing is also decimating shark populations. The fishing industry is being forced to catch sharks faster than they can reproduce because more people want to eat it.the problem is so out of control that sharks have plummeted to just 10% of levels in 1950.Bite-Back hopes that just by removing shark from menus and fish counters, the retail industry can ease the pressure on vulnerable species promoting shark conservation and manage the oceans responsibly.

Reflection
Before reading up on the article I have no idea that shark living on earth are so little.I thought that there are still many sharks living on the earth and are not going to extinct so fast. After reading the article I learned that we should stop killing sharks in order to stop sharks from going extinct. The article also shows that 3290 tonnes of shark is consumed across the country each year which is equivalent to 2200 Ford Fiestas in weight which I think its a huge amount of sharks killed every year to me.Shark is popular throughout the world because of we humans who wants to eat it.We can all help by stop eating shark's fins and encourage restaurants to remove shark from menus and remove sharks from fish counters allowing the retail industry to ease the pressure on vulnerable species.Everyone can make the world a nicer place to live if everyone just stop eating sharks and sharks will not be killed anymore.
